The Mecidiye Mosque, built in 1911 in the time of Sultan Resat, is an example of late Ottoman architecture. The interior of the mosque is illuminated by tall, wide windows. The mosque with a capacity of 400-500 people is open to worshipers.

Mosque with the most soul.
So charming from the outside and from the inside.
Amazing view is just a bonus.
One of my favorites in Istanbul.

Although not grandiose by its size it is one of the most beautiful example of Islamic architecture. The mosque was built in neo-baroque style near by the sea, on at. In the interior of the mosque, there are wide windows which refract its reflection in water as well as daylight, featuring a magnificent view of the Bosphorus

Mecidiye Mosque also known as the Ortaköy Mosque, is on of the hidden gems of Istanbul. Combine a visit to the Mecidiye Mosque with the Bosphorus Bridge (10 min walk) and Dolmabahce Palace (30min walk).
Situated in Ortaköy old meets new. With the Mecidiye Mosque and on the background the Bosphorus bridge, this is a stunning place to visit and to take pictures.
At sunset this place is even more brilliant.

While taking the Bosphorus tour we decided to end our tour in Ortakoy mainly because we had heard a lot about the amazing Bosphorus view from Ortakoy central plaza and this small beautiful mosque.
The mosque indeed is very beautiful and very quiet. And you get an amazing view of Bosphorus and can also even see Camlica hill and Camlica mosque from here. But there is nothing else to do in Ortakoy. It's famous for its Kumpir but you can find equally good Kumpir in other parts of Istanbul as well. I would recommend travellers to go there only if you are staying in Istanbul for at least 5 days and have some time in hand to spend an evening here.

Ortaköy Mosque is an elegant building full of light. Its interior is dominated by pastel colours. I would not say that it is better than other mosques in Istanbul. Its surroundings are very busy and touristic.
