About

One of the hottest districts in Istanbul, Balat is home to beautiful architecture and a vibrant culture. Once the city’s Jewish quarter, Balat is still dotted with centuries-old synagogues, as well as historic churches and mosques. Here, you can browse quaint antique shops, cozy tea rooms and brand-new cafes, and walk down to the waterfront to take in the views of the Golden Horn. The neighborhood is also a popular spot for street photography. Join a walking tour to learn about Balat's rich history and wander through its narrow cobbled streets to view the colorful townhouses and impressive mansions. – Tripadvisor

Kaffamiro Cafe/Restaurant My friends told me to visit this cafe for sure on my trip to Istanbul. Kaffamiro is located in the heart of Balat. Its a very art focused cafe where u can take a break to get energized with a nice coffee and very delicious sweets. The old roman home where rebuilt as a very comfy and warm cafe. The original wooden doors and ceiling, and also windows are still used. I got in love with this place. In the first floor there was a gallery with some interesting paintings. You should definitely visit when u are in Istanbul! The white wooden piano is waiting to be played. I will come back for sure in summer.

Cute, quaint little village. Came here after daughter seen it on TikTok. Quite small so only took an hour or so to get around. Highly recommend a little place called Balat Hanimeli cafe (isn’t listed on Trip Advisor). Stopped here for light lunch and it was amazing.

Can go for a half day tour to this colourful area. Have a few nice cafe around , can take some nice photo but don’t expect the colours is outstanding. All the photo you see on google is after filter and become WOW factor. Make sure you wear a very good walking shoe.

Not a good place to visit...No maintenance at all...the colours of the buildings got faded away...There is no good place or location for taking photos except the staircase...

How to get there
