Panorama 1453 History Museum

Absolutely incredible experience l. I will definitely visit it again with my wife this time. I had a feeling like I am there with Ghazi Sultan Mehmed Fatih fighting shoulder to shoulder. Loved it!

This museum is dedicated to the siege and conquest of Constantinople in 1453 by the Ottoman Army commanded by Fatih Sultan Mehmed. The history is narrated along several panels along with biographical data of Sultan Mehmed and his main commanders. Unfortunately, if you don't speak Turkish you miss a lot of information because below every panel in Turkish there's a small sign with a small abstract in English of what is told in the panel. The best part is the visit to the dome where the final battle was recreated including a lovely soundtrack that makes you feel part of the scenery. The museum shop has very nice things with reasonable prices since the museum is outside the touristic area.

We took the tram to see the old city walls, I believe it was Topkapi station. The city walls were interesting for a short visit (30-60 minutes) and the Panorama 1453 was in the area. There is very limited information in English. For us this was disappointing. We want to learn more about the siege and the Sultan. Unless you have a lot of extra time or want to see the old city walls then you might better spend your time elsewhere. We spent about an hour and started to lose interest at the end.

Doesn't take the museum card. It's not really near anything so you might need to Uber there. Total tour is about an hour. Read the wikipedia page on the seige of Constantinople beforehand as the English signage isn't great. The panorama room is pretty cool though.
