Hagia Sophia Mosque

Am incredibly building for its time and one of the few to have lasted this long. It is a pity that some of the original surfaces are now covered but it’s is a must visit if you are interested in history

We went twice. First time was 11pm which was a fantastic experience, no queue, very few people inside and very atmospheric. Second time we went was 5pm on Sunday. No queue but prayers were happening so it was extremely busy and nowhere near as special. Also established that you can no longer go upstairs to see the Viking graffiti. Highly recommend going in the evening

Mosques are beautiful and peaceful spaces for contemplation and or worship. So wonderful that these older ones have been preserved. It was a privledge to be a le to go inside.

Architectural marvel and a sight to see in Istanbul. Many hotels located nearby so it’s beautiful to hear the Azaan right from your hotel.

Every day the queues were stupidly long, up to two hours, we found that at late afternoon the lines were much shorter, once inside were very disappointed we expected much better, the blue mosque was so much better , brighter cleaner and less crowded
