This is a very interesting museum about the history of the Ottoman/Turkish navy. I learned lots looking at some of the exhibits. I was particularly moved by some of the exhibits in the exhibition for the martyrs. I was there the same time as a school children's group, if you find yourself followed by one, go back, let them pass, they seem to pass through quickly then you will be left in peace again.

The museum starts with showing busts of famous admirals, before showing ceremonial galleys used by the Ottoman sultans. The exhibition continues on various levels, with many detailed exhibits on the navy throughout the centuries, up until the present day. I found the section on the old diving equipment particularly interesting.

It is an incredible museum. There are boats used by the sultans in the Bosphorus gland in gold -beautiful. Many models of ships. Don't miss! On Thursday admission is free.

This museum is not only very well located with loads to do in the area but as a building is super impressive. The artefacts are humongous and have a lot of history attached. I thoroughly recommend a visit if you’re in Istanbul.

I haven’t expected this museum to be so big and rich. Exhibit starts with pleasure boats (real ones!) of pashas but then you are being introduced to the whole history of Turkish navy, from galleons to modern frigates and destroyers some of which are still in service. Models are more than many. Apart from that - lots of education materials, private things of the most famous captains, pictures of the most significant battles, diving equipment - omg hard to enumerate all of it. And a special wow to how nicely everything is presented and compiled. You are going to be exhausted by the end and probably get tired of reading, so I plan to visit again some day. Also there’s a souvenir shop that sells lovely things (key chains, badges, cufflinks etc) so cheap!!! I was shocked. But it closes around 16, so don’t come too late
